Coastal Clean Up is a Success!

Thank you to everyone that participated in this year’s International Coastal Clean Up! Volunteers were stationed at different beach areas around St. Augustine, and our crew focused on the beaches nearest the properties that we manage. Including OVC!

Despite the drizzly, overcast day, it was a fun event and we are proud to be able to help in the beautification of our community. We also hope that some baby sea turtles will benefit from our efforts when it’s time to hatch!

parrots

Feathery OVC Friends

Amid the palm trees and ocean breezes, there are guests other than the people that enjoy the property at Ocean Village Club. The Nanday Parakeet or “Black Hooded Parakeet,” have been spotted all over the grounds in the early morning and late afternoon hours. According to the National Audubon Society, they are Native to South America and fairly common from southeast Bolivia to southwest Brazil & Paraguay and northern Argentina. Yet, released birds have established homes in places like Los Angeles, California, and several areas of Florida. You can hear their sweet tweets, so when you do, make sure you check out these little beauties!

So far this year a charity garage sale was held with proceeds going to the Betty Griffin House and S.A.F.E. Pet Shelter. As an ongoing effort, all Coastal Realty properties, including Ocean Village Club collect non-perishable food items that guests donate at the end of their stay for Betty Griffin House.
